In addition to the story and characters, the film looks and sounds wonderful as well. There’s some breathtaking cinematography and a great soundtrack backing Tyler and Zak’s journey. Review
Even with its wayward execution, One Voice, One Mic is a wonderfully positive short. Review
Undeniably, The Farewell is one of the best films of 2019 and is quite possibly one of the best family dramas ever made. Review
While Ready or Not may not quite match the artistry of something like A Quiet Place, Hereditary, or this year’s Hereditary follow-up, Midsommar, it’s a welcome addition to the genre and one of the most entertaining moviegoing experiences of 2019. Review
While there are elements that will drag Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark down for fans of the books, the film is a very solid adaptation of the popular series. Review
Such a Funny Life is at its best when Mann is focusing on the family drama that he efficiently crafts. When it starts to dabble in subplots and comedy, it loses some of its luster. Review
Miss Freelance is a rock solid short film from a bold and talented filmmaker. Matthew Kyle Levine’s insistence on using closeups to tell stories is an unorthodox trait but, to date, has proven successful. Review
For better or for worse, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood is Quentin Tarantino doing whatever he wants. Even through its glaring detractors, the film is still going to get out of this review with a pass. However, this is not Tarantino’s best work by far and it may even be his worst yet. Review
Wade in the Water‘s best moments feature the deeply emotional complexities of its characters. Review
If you’re a fan of crime dramas, be sure to check out Hide the Sausage. Review
In all honesty, they didn’t tinker or change much of anything about the story. They just made a nearly shot for shot remake of the 1994 film. Review
There are just far too many issues with its overall storytelling and dumb characters for Crawl to get a full recommendation. Yes, there’s some fun to be had but it comes between bouts of boredom, predictability, and, above all, stupidity. Review
At the end of the day, Trouble is my Business isn’t a film that will wow anyone but it’s still an impressive throwback to the glorious noir films of the 40’s and 50’s. Review
As excellent as Midsommar can be at times, it still falls short of the lofty heights of Hereditary. Review
The comedy doesn’t always work and the first half is a bit questionable due to its lack of anything notably Spidey. However, the second half of the film is a barrage of dazzling highs that trump its predecessor. Review
If you’re someone who likes constant jump scares, you may not hate Annabelle Comes Home. Though, if you’re looking for a unique horror experience and some of the magic of the flagship series, you’d best look elsewhere. Review
It’s perfectly watchable and viewers should be entertained throughout. However, it’s one of those films that you just kind of forget about the second you leave the theater. Review
Toy Story 4 isn’t bad. It just doesn’t feel like a real Toy Story movie. Review
The Dead Don’t Die takes a few missteps in its storytelling, at least it tries to do something different with the zombie subgenre of horror. The character work, performances, and deadpan humor are spot on throughout the film. Review
As previously mentioned, the film is simply fun. It feels like the cast and crew had a good time making it and it comes across as a viewer. Review
It’s a dull and listless superhero film in a time when superhero films are at the top of their game. Review
Despite a small budget, it’s very well made and never bores even with its generically familiar locations. For the most part, The Passion of Paul Ross is a film whose success lies in what a viewer takes away from it. Review
It’s a spectacular portrait of the glamour, pizzazz, and substance fueled eccentricity of the musical icon that is Sir Elton Hercules John. Review
