This cohesion of talent allows Rye Lane to fully flourish, delivering a colourful, creative and quick-witted rom-com that’s destined to be a future genre classic. You’re about to have a new favourite rom-com. Review
The physically journey behind Women Behind the Wheel is undeniably impressive. But whilst the film itself maybe doesn’t quite match the scale of this admirable adventure in what it says, what’s most notable is Cat and Hannah’s ability to focus on the subjects of their documentary: the women carrying out these small everyday acts of revolution. Review
Dhont’s gorgeous depiction of such wholesome and genuine adolescent love is a rarity that deserves to be cherished. As do the astounding performances of de Waele and Dambrine, whose stunning collaboration is about as close to cinematic perfection as its come. Review
As a matter of fact it’s quite remarkable that Kore-eda has managed to transform this subject matter into something so surprisingly heartwarming within this relatively concise time. He provides a safe and reliable vehicle for his nuanced characters, who all brim with complex emotion. Review
The film both celebrates the best of its country’s culture, whilst simultaneously taking a firm stance against the bigoted influence of its patriarchy. It does so with its attention firmly on those most at risk, exploring the subsequent intricacies of their existence with a potent honesty that breeds devastation. Review
But as a consequence of this Women Talking is never wholly gripping, instead only in parts. Yet the commanding performances of its cast elevate the film to moments of brilliance, which will have audiences hanging on the characters every word. Review
So whilst The Whale is home to several brilliant performances and well-paced, interesting storytelling, its lack of sensitivity and misplaced melodrama sadly becomes its ultimate undoing. Review
Kiddo conveys a horrifying metaphor by way of its simple, yet effective storytelling. This is made possible by the strength of its production, which operates at a very high standard across the board. And whilst its central message will provoke debate the quality of the filmmaking itself is indisputable. Review
Admittedly some of the themes in the narrative do retread common ground seen in film before, however despite this, the film approaches them with such an abundance of heart that it doesn’t matter. Review
Chaos Walking does enough to make itself an entertaining watch but it never becomes anything outstanding. Review
Bud is an excellent production across the board though, it’s been brought together by a small team behind and in front of the camera who have clear vision and have demonstrated their ability well. Review
T keeps its narrative simple and ensures that the central relationship of its protagonists is convincing and captivating for audiences. Review
As a movie lost far out of its own time it will fail to connect with contemporary audiences and relies solely on the nostalgic throwbacks to its franchise roots. Review
Tenet feels like it so desperately wants to be and have the same success of Inception however it ends up being nothing more than a muddled imitation and no doubt a disappointing debut for many viewers post-lockdown cinema experiences. Review
Thanks to the charismatic performances of its leading stars, the playful presentation of many of the film’s secondary characters and its light hearted comedy Dating Amber becomes a charming and heartfelt gay story that it would be hard not to get on with. Review
This informative discussion is complimented by the coverage of the competitive spelling bees but a more consistent conversation might have combined the two elements with more cohesion. Review
Coming in at under ninety minutes too The Lovebirds is a swift and undemanding watch that doesn’t feel like it’s robin you of your time, offering audiences a lark and a laugh here and there. Review
Becoming is a delightful look at Obama as she tells her own story without the insane media scrutiny that she has become so accustomed to. Review
Meandering its way to its anti-climatic finale this thriller delivers nothing to earn the right to be categorised in this genre. Review
Pat and Terry are absolute sweethearts and it’s a pleasure to spend time with them through this documentary. Review
Despite the best efforts of the cast the unengaging and one dimensional narrative simply fail to get this film to the top floor. Take the stairs instead. Review
This excellent casting alongside the high octane, guns galore action ensure that Extraction is a highlight of recent streaming releases and worth the time of any cinematic action junkie. Review
Highlighting the importance of queer spaces through history, educating members of all communities about LGBT+ struggles over the years and through tenderly, yet directly addressing queer/church relations Circus of Books delivers a powerful and insightful look at the humanity behind this adult entertainment business. Review
Ultimately this is a solid entry into this genre but its not a streaming property you’ll remember for too long. Review
