It’s not bloody Shakespeare. But what it tries to do, it does perfectly well. An enjoyable romantic diversion of a film. Review
It’s a well-made film, with a stunning central performance by the 25-year-old Cailee Spaeny. But it’s hardly a film that fills you with festive cheer. Review
I know that many people view Chicken Run as a masterpiece and are loathe to watch this one for fear of dissapointment. But I don’t think they need avert their gaze. It’s obviously not as fresh as the original, and people will no doubt miss the original, and much-loved, original voiceover stars. But it’s a pretty decent family film. Review
It’s a very bog-standard action film, over-ruled by CGI effects, under-used star-power, weak character development and a convoluted plot. Review
I never thought that I would give 4*s to a Japanese-language Godzilla movie. But it really is impressively good stuff and eminently watchable. Recommended for a fun night out. Review
This is a terrific movie that will be of particular interest to the like-minded ‘silver-dollar’ community of older film-goers. ... Review
I really enjoyed the first film and enjoyed this one even more. A really great rollicking adventure yarn. Recommended. Review
It’s a fine and well made film. But not one that I found appealing or engaging. A bit of a disappointment to be honest. Review
I found this a flawed but ultimately interesting apocalyptic excursion that kept me entertained and intrigued throughout. Well acted and with interesting direction by Sam Esmail, it’s well worth checking out. Review
This is just SO much fun! From the brilliant opening song the film sucks you in with the same quirky brilliance that Paddington and Paddington 2... Review
Do yourself a favour and watch the original Freaky Friday again. Or even the Lindsay Lohan/Jamie Lee Curtis remake. If you want to feel Christmassy, put some tinsel in your hair. Review
Utterly forgetable festive offering that is worth avoiding at all costs. Review
It’s weak Christmas fare compared to the classics of the genre. But compared to Best. Christmas. Ever! and EXmas it’s bloody Shakespeare. Review
If you go into it assuming it’s going to be a mild-comedy / horror-lite film, then you will have a good time. Its perfectly watchable. It just didn’t set my barn ablaze. Review
Was it the 100-year anniversary experience that Disney was angling for? Unfortunately no. But, as I am no-longer the target audience, I will point out that my granddaughter Eva is going to see it for the second time today. Review
The acting in the main is teeth-achingly poor. This is especially true for Brandy Norwood who deserves a Razzie nomination for the performance. Review
This is a steady and worthy historical drama, based on real-events, that is well worth your time. Review
A brilliant, visceral and epic biopic of a legendary historical character. Review
A frustrating film. Better than I expected in the first two thirds. But then, just like Dream Scenario, the final reel crashed the plane. Review
The movie version does play out like a parody, but a good parody. It certainly earns its ’18’ certificate! For lovers of this genre, I think it really hits the mark spot-on. Review
The story had some bumpy moments, as above, but as an overall feelgood offering I think older people in particular will definitely appreciate this one. Is it subtle in the way it milks your tear-ducts like some super-heavyweight Jersey cow, late to the parlour for milking? Review
It is a film that I think is really well made and is ‘important’ because it bootstraps a discussion about sexual consent between young people. Do I want to ever watch it again? Probably not! Review
This is a cracking film and for once I fully agree with the Cannes jury. Get to try to see it on the big screen if you can. Review
It’s not one of Fincher’s best in my opinion. Some, I know, find it dull. But, for me, even a Fincher off-day still makes you appreciate the quality of the film-making. Review
